About Dr. Fox
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a background that spans academic medicine, the VA healthcare system, and private practice. I received my Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany, followed by a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at UCLA's Integrated Substance Abuse Programs. I subsequently joined the faculty at UC San Diego's Department of Psychiatry as an Assistant Clinical Professor, where I also worked at VA San Diego Healthcare System — developing a specialized program for veterans navigating the intersection of PTSD and substance use disorders.
That clinical foundation — working with trauma, addiction, and complex human struggles in high-stakes settings — shapes everything I do today.
Psychotherapy
In my private practice, I work with adults facing emotional challenges that feel difficult to navigate alone: internal conflicts, major life transitions, trauma, and addiction. I bring a thoughtful, individualized approach to each person I work with, drawing on evidence-based methods while remaining attentive to what each client actually needs. I see clients virtually in California and Kansas.
Workers’ Compensation Services
I serve as a panel-qualified Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) for the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. My evaluations are thorough, clearly written, and designed to give attorneys, courts, and other parties the expert opinion they need to move forward.
